Led by acclaimed sound designer Ray
Archie, Brooklyn Sound Lab mergers worldclass sonic craftsmanship with boundarypushing storytelling to deliver unforgettable
auditory experiences.
Before a single note is played,
we begin with deep listening,
starting with a script reading,
followed by a sound design
thesis and a collaborative
vision session with the
director. This phase lays the
foundation for everything
that follows.
Like an architect designing a
space, every cue, tone, and
moment of silence is purposebuilt to serve the story. The
result? A powerful, immersive
soundscape that elevates
every scene.
For this visionary production, Brooklyn Sound Lab’s immersive
approach wrapped the audience in a 360-degree soundscape,
transforming the theatre into a living forest of sound. First
developed in partnership with the National Black Theatre and the
Apollo, the piece has become a cornerstone example of the future
of Black storytelling in immersive formats.
Brooklyn Sound Lab is exploring innovative models to let our
community invest directly in original scores. Inspired by royaltysharing platforms for music, we aim to create opportunities for
patrons to support and profit from Brooklyn Sound Lab’s
original theatrical compositions. Stay tuned as we launch this
groundbreaking initiative.
